Propers and Announcements – X Trinity 2022

The Propers and Announcements for the Tenth Sunday after Trinity: Sunday, August 21st, 2022

Here are the Propers for the Tenth Sunday after Trinity.

The Book of Common Prayer 1928.

The Collect.

LET thy merciful ears, O Lord, be open to the prayers of thy humble servants; and, that they may obtain their petitions, make them to ask such things as shall please thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Epistle. 1 Cor. xii. 1.

CONCERNING spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles. carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: but all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

The Gospel. St. Luke xix. 41.

AND when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace but now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and com pass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, and shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; be cause thou knewest not the time of thy visitation. And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought; saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves. And he taught daily in the temple.

Announcements for the Week of Sunday, August 21st

If you are a visitor:

Welcome! Thank you for being here. We are very pleased to have you with us, and hope that your worship at Christ Church Anglican is a blessing to you.

The Prayer for the Parish is on the card in the pew holder.

Please sign the guest book on the table in the narthex, and if you are willing, provide your contact information. Include your email address to be placed on our parish email list: you won’t be bombarded (2-3 emails per week, on average), but it’s a good way to keep in touch with what’s going on at the parish. And may God bless you!

Covid Awareness

Please keep Chris, Nancy and Gay in prayer as they recover.

We encourage people to take reasonable and appropriate precautions, according to their best judgement and based on their particular health situations (those with suppressed immune systems or other enhanced risk factors may wish to be more cautious than those who are in generally good health) and personal level of risk-aversion, and taking into account the recommendations of reputable medical professionals. No one should feel shamed or pressured in any direction!

We will continue to offer in-person services, as well as streaming online services via YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCY50rM4CAa_1ajjoUV_6pdg).

Ministries at Christ Church Anglican

Please pray for the ministry of our parish in this and neighboring communities; for our efforts in ministry, mission, and outreach; and for our facilities expansion project.

Please pray in particular for “Healing from Grief and Loss,” a Christ-centered pastoral care and spiritual direction support group for men who have experienced the loss of a loved one, friend, or family member, which will be led by Fr. Terrence McGillicuddy.

It is scheduled to begin this week, at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 25th; please contact Fr. McGillicuddy by phone at 781-801-4813 or by email at frtmcgill3@gmail.com for more information, or to sign up.
